Jim's Story

I am finally filling in my blog or whatever you call it these days! After Graduation from Clark High in 1968 I entered Active Duty in the Navy and spent the next 5 years fighting the war off and on in North and South Vietnam until May, 1973. During that time I also got to visit every country in the Far East and Down Under and many of the Pacific Island chains. Though not realizing it at the time and many years later waking up to it, I was part of many historical events that are now on the history channel and also part of the TV show JAG in some episodes. Who would of thought? In August 1973, I started college and was also raising my family and attended college for the next six years earning several degrees. In 1980, I went back in the Navy full time as a Surface Warfare Line Naval Officer (my dream since childhood) and went out and got to be part of more history and stayed highly operational around the world for the next 15 or 16 years. I got to see many more countries including China. Also had many experiences working with the State Department in the Middle East, Guatemala, Philippines and in the USA! During the early 1990's I spent much time in the Middle East! Finally retiring in 1997, now divorced, went to work for Aerospace as a Think Tank Consultant in the Washington DC area. (Yes I know that is scary for some) Later I worked as a technical, administrative and financial government consultant for over five years turning around cities and corporations out of control. Now just work whenever I like to and use time to do volunteer work turning arund troubled kids and also volunteer as a docent aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier museum in San Diego on the Embarcadero educating the public on how an Aircraft Carrier works and operates. The public is highly fascinated with that ship. It is very popular! I also go...Expand for more
up to Bremerton WA and also a docent on occasion on the USS Turner Joy museum ship up there. I was part of that history on that ship during the Vietnam war. I have a son who is a Naval Officer and Military Chaplain and a daughter who is a business woman. Both are happily married and my daughter and her husband have two darling young boys whom I refer to as "The Munchkins" Needless to say sure love my family. Also help raise two nephews who weree US Marines. One served two tours in Iraq and the other served with the Presidential Security Detail and honor guard at the White House and around Washington DC. They now are happily married pursuing civilian careers. All fine young men and fine young women. Finally uploaded many more photos of family and think family is so important! My close friends are family also and have loaded those pictures! I enjoy getting in touch with 1968 classmates and those from other years from Ed W. Clark H.S. I will be updating this again! That's all folks....for now! For me life has had it ups and down, passions and adventures! Being a career military man with a highly operational career, I have seen the horrors of what mankind can do to mankind in the world and found that I appreciate my life as an American and DO NOT take its freedoms for granted. Seeing War (and hating it) anarchy, terrorism, famine, mass starvation and genocide up close and personal only makes me appreciate that I have a loving family where I am honored and respected. I have been married twice and the second time around found a very happy life, but lost it due to the ravages of jealousy and greed from both ex-spouses, but even though I miss the loving married life, and not have found that again, at least I have known what a great loving married life where FUN, responsibility and passion is and what family means to me!
